No sensors or differential control are needed with this system. Since the electric output of the photovoltaic module changes with sunlight intensity, it powers the pump at the variable rate, causing an increase in water flow on a sunny day and a slower circulation when the weather conditions are not as good.

The timer is used to automatically control the solar system’s electric back-up and if used properly will maximize your solar system’s output, minimize the inconvenience cause by inclement weather, and provide the energy savings you expect.

The Backup Electric Heating Element in your solar tank is controlled by a thermostat and timer. When the timer is ON, the thermostat measures the water temperature in the tank. If they temperature is below the setting on the thermostat, electricity heats the tank water to the temperature you have selected. If the solar panels have heated the water sufficiently, no electricity will be used even though the timer comes on.
